As you may or may not know, we’ve been restoring our New York farmhouse over the past couple years. Built in the 1850′s some of the original details seem to have come in and out of style – at least according to the previous owners who removed some of the more ornate details of the home at one point or another.
We really adore the vergeboard that was hand carved and restored this past year – as a result I always have an eye for gingerbread and architectural detail.
When it comes to home renovation, I am an unapologetic addict. My two boys have grown so accustomed to the sound of banging hammers in every home they’ve ever lived, that I wonder if I might be subconsciously turning them into the architect and carpenter I’ve always longed to be. To paraphrase Carl Jung, nothing so affects the child as the unlived life of the parent!
