Early Spring Cut Flowers

Nothing heralds springtime quite like the early flowering bulbs that peak through the earth even before the blades of grass do.  Masses of dafodils and muscari are lavishing my garden with color right now along with a few Azaleas and Bleeding Hearts.  I’m clipping furiously to bring some of their abundant goodness and color inside my home and, in fact, was able to gather enough to use as centerpieces for the Salon we held in my studio last Friday evening.

My favorite are the deep purple flowers… are those the Muscari? I saw them all over New York, in the street planters alongside the daffodils.

Yes, that’s Muscari. They are often called “Grape Hyacinth”. They really prolific too … bloom and bloom and bloom.
