Amongst the flowering annuals and perennials in my garden, I’ve also planted an array of herbs that I’m really enjoying this summer.
The basil, sage, tarragon, rosemary, dill and oregano are all thriving and producing nicely … challenging me daily to think of new ways and recipes to use them all up!
This is not an easy feat! These herbs are growing so rapidly, I’m forced to snip away at them to keep them luscious without going to seed.
This is one of the most pleasurable things about gardening with fragrant herbs. Weeding and trimming and clipping is more like aromatherapy than work!
Rosemary tucked into a roasted chicken … chives sprinkled onto baked potatoes … tarragon stirred into tuna salad … crushed oregano added to homemade salad dressings … fresh basil with tomatoes and mozzarella … grilled fish with dill. All of these are summertime staples at our table.
