As we move in to the holiday season, it can be hard to come up with enough thoughtful and affordable hostess gifts for all those upcoming parties. Arm Candy Cuffs

I love all the beautiful new products we’ve created for the 2012 Wooster & Prince line … but my favorite by far is our gorgeous new line of Cuff Bracelets that will debut at the shows this month!

Joli dubbed them “Arm Candy” at some point along the way and the name stuck as the perfect tagline to describe these eye-catching cuffs. The colors are so vibrant and fun, in fact, we decided to photograph them amongst lots of sweets and treats we picked up from Dylan’s Candy Store in New York. (My two little boys, Jack and Bear, could hardly wait for the photo shoot to end so they could make off with the props!)

Gold-plated with a luxe look and weight, these cuffs are the perfect arm candy to go with everything from your skinny jeans to your favorite cocktail dress. They look stunning worn as a single … and are a show stopper worn in multiples!

Sonia Delaunay Inspires

Sometimes I see design and feel inspired … and sometimes I see design and am utterly stopped in my tracks, unable to think of anything else. The Sonia Delaunay exhibit at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York City last year was one of those moments.

I was completely taken over by her truly authentic style, her bold use of color and her totally fearless application of her art in all manner of products and markets.

The exhibit set in motion an entirely new design direction for us here in the Studio. Playing with new shapes and unexpected color combinations, we simplified and edited patterns while keeping the hand-drawn feeling that can be seen in Delaunay’s work. Rather than strive for computer-generated perfection, we kept the hand-rendered imperfections that make each design feel authentic and original.

Our brilliant studio designer, Joli Latini, created two of the beautiful patterns that we used for the new 2012 Wooster & Prince product line. Joli perfectly balanced the crisp, modern style with the “created-by-hand” sensibility we were striving for.

Delaunay’s work is as current and fresh as ever … and a true inspiration.

Emperor’s Acrobats

Recently while I was working on new designs for Wooster & Prince, my friend and frequent collaborator, John McDonald, shared with me some of his own research on Jean-Baptiste Pillement, the French godfather of Rococo chinoiserie. Pillement’s designs and etchings from the late 1700’s often featured fantastical drawings of what Europeans imagined “the Orient” to be like. Dancing acrobats juggling umbrellas in jungle-like forests were not an uncommon notion of this exotic world … and it was these images that sparked my imagination as I began to sketch a new chinoiserie.

Taking inspiration from Pillement’s amazing work, I created “Emperor’s Acrobats” for the new 2012 Wooster & Prince line of Art Paper as well as for our new Desktop Notes, Notecard Portfolios, Purse Mirrors and Emery Boards which will all be available in stores in January 2012.

Baby Lulu Comes to Visit

When we saw our new fabrics designed for Robert Kaufman, our minds immediately went to “baby” … and all the adorable things we might create using these pink and pretty fabrics.

Luckily for us, we had the perfect muse in beautiful Baby Lulu, my dear friend Lisa’s adorable little girl.

We take our work here in the studio pretty seriously … but we aren’t above taking the morning off for a photoshoot and cuddle session with Baby Lulu, whom we decked out in the cutest Wooster & Prince dress.

And, of course, all the best props were created using Wooster & Prince fabrics!

Yes, the dress is absolutely adorable … but it’s the feet we can’t resist.

Featuring more than 200 new and archival Wooster & Prince designs, the private collection of original artwork will be available for the first time for home decor, textile, wallpaper, tabletop, bedding and gift applications.

“Since 2003, we’ve been building awareness of the Wooster & Prince design style and the fresh approach we take to surface and product design in the stationery and gift categories. But only now, with our first exhibition at Printsource, will we officially open our studio doors to work with companies in entirely new market segments,” says Ormond. ”It’s a perfect and easy transition for our studio, which has always drawn inspiration from classic and vintage home textiles.”

The large collection spans multiple categories including damasks, botanicals, foulards, conversationals and geometrics, as well as globally-influenced designs such as ikats.
